Hosea 10:1-2
How prosperous Israel is - a luxuriant vine loaded with fruit! But the more wealth the people got, the more they poured it on altars of their foreign gods. The richer the harvests they brought in, the more beautiful the statues and idols they built. The hearts of the people are fickle; they are guilty and must be punished The Lord will break down their foreign altars and smash their many idols.
....OUR MONEY
Israel prospered under Jeroboam II, gaining military and economic strength. But the more prosperous the nation became, the more it spent on idols. It seems as if the more God gives, the more we spend. We want bigger houses, better cars, finer clothes, and more expensive educations.
But the finest things the world offers may line the pathway to destruction. As we continue to follow the Israelites we will see that everything they gained, they will lose everything. Money in it's self is good. Being wealthy is not a sin, how it becomes sinful is how we use it. Just like the Israelites.
We don't have to be wealthy to spend our money the wrong way. As you prosper, consider where your money is going. Is it being used for God's purposes, or are you spending it all on yourself? Is your money your idol? Has money become your god?
