ALTERNATIVES

Today's devotion is a situation along with discussion questions following .....

James and Kristy are watching a popular afternoon talk show. Today's topic is “Should homosexual marriage be legalized?” Most of the guest, as well as members of the studio audience, are gay and lesbian activists who are “tired of being treated like second - class citizens”. One of the most outspoken member of the panel says: "Why can't people just accept us as we are? We didn't choose to be homosexual. We were born this way. We don't condemn straight people for acting on their natural desires. Why then condemn us for being the way God made us?"

With each statement like these, the talk show host nods approvingly and the audience cheers loudly. All except the one guy on the panel who is a minister. He is trying patiently (and with love) to point out why homosexuality is not acceptable behavior, but every time the others kept interrupting him and describing him as "backwards," "narrow - minded," and a "religious extremist." By the end of show, James Kristy feel a little bit different. They aren't ready to accept everything about homosexual lifestyle, however they do wonder if maybe they haven't been a bit intolerant in their views.

What do you think? Is homosexuality just "an alternative lifestyle"?

Is it really OK?

What if we adapted "don't ask, don't tell" (not just for the military)
this way known would know. Right?

Let us look at what God says about it in Romans 1:24-27

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

My two cents on this subject:

Homosexuals, just like all sinners, we stand guilty before God.

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Romans 3:22-24

The great message found in the book of Romans - and the entire Bible - is that there is hope for sinners of all kinds through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He is the one who will set us free, regardless of our sin. "Come just as your are" His arms are open wide to receive you.

Father thank for giving us today. May we take every opportunity to share
Christ to others. Thank you for this discussion, may it be used for your glory and your honor. Help those who chose to discuss this at work at home or where ever not to be judgemental but let our discussion be done Christ - like. We love you and we praise your Holy Name forever and forever more.
Amen
