Today’s Scripture: Genesis 39:2-4
“The LORD was with Joseph, so he became a successful man…His master saw that the LORD was with him and how the LORD caused all that he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal servant; and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he owned he put in his charge.”
Words of Devotion
Joseph had been sold into slavery by his brothers and found himself alone in Egypt. Yet God was with him, and “he became a successful man, by “Serving one of Egypt’s most powerful men, Joseph “found favor” in his sight.
Yet years of difficulties were ahead for Joseph. He would be falsely accused and put in jail. Even there, he would excel and be given a position of responsibility. He would expect blessing after correctly interpreting a dream for the king’s cupbearer, but after the man was released from jail, he would forget about Joseph.
Joseph could have given up and felt forgotten by God. He didn’t know that the Lord had greater things in store and that He was going to use all of Joseph’s experiences to deliver His full blessings and accomplish His purposes. Joseph simply had to wait for God’s appointed time.
God did not forget about Joseph, and He has not forgotten about you. He sees where you are. He knows what you’ve done and what you’re going through. He also has a plan for your life and is preparing you for what lies ahead. He has an appointed time for you!
Do not give up or despair. Trust in God, and commit your ways to Him. As Paul wrote, “We know that God causes ALL things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
Today, Remember: He is working everything together for good…for YOU!
Today's Prayer: Father, I believe that You have an appointed time for Your promises to be fulfilled. I will keep sowing with the resources You have given me. I trust in You. In Jesus’ name Amen
