Never Shaken

Today’s Passage: Psalm 112:1-8

“Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in His commandments…A good man deals graciously and lends…Surely he will never be shaken…He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established; he will not be afraid.”

Words of Devotion

Life can be full of stressful situations and events that cause worry and fear. But God has provided a way to go through life without being “afraid of evil tidings.”

First, we must fear the Lord. This means focusing on Him…revering and honoring Him…having a vital personal relationship with Him…and making Him the most important part of our lives. As we draw closer to Him, we’ll find our fears fading away!

We also are to delight in His commandments. We cannot just read the Bible occasionally. If we want to be freed from fear and worry, we must delight “greatly” in His Word. We must hide His words in our hearts, meditate on them, and focus on them. This gives us stability, clarity, and certainty.

Third, we are to trust in Him. While everything in this world is temporary, trusting in God can change our attitude and outlook…because Henever changes. When we stop worrying and realize God wants to bless us so we can bless others, we can be generous. Confident in His provision, our hearts can be “steadfast.”

Don’t let fear rule over your heart! You don’t have to be afraid of the problems you face or worried about world conditions. You can trust that God will protect, guide, and provide for you.

PRAYER: Father, I worship and praise You. I entrust my life to You. Deliver me from fear. May my life bring You honor and glory. In Jesus’ name Amen.
