They will know that I am...

The Lord

Today’s Text is from

Ezekiel 30:26

"...then they will know that I am the Lord."

TODAY’S NOTES ON THE PASSAGE:

One message is repeated constantly throughout the book of Ezekiel: God wants us to know Him and to know that He is "the Lord." Fifteen times, God declared that He wanted people to know "I am the Lord." This phrase was repeated eight times just in Ezekiel 29 and 30.

This is a constant theme throughout history and the Bible. It first was revealed in the Garden of Eden, where God interacted with Adam and Eve in unbroken fellowship. Everything changed when they didn't truly regard Him as the Lord.

God knows why it's important for us to grasp that He's "the Lord." This is why the first commandment establishes, "I am the LORD your God...You shall have no other gods before Me" (Exodus 20:2-3). This is the starting point for a life of blessing and fulfillment.

Yet even we Believers can forget about God in our daily lives. How quickly we can take His blessings for granted and begin to feel self-sufficient. In fact, millions of people reject the idea that He is "the Lord." Instead, they feel they are the lord of their own lives.

Tragically, this attitude always leads to pride. These people make themselves the center of their universe, failing to recognize that God is the Creator and "the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge" (Proverbs 1:7).But God loves us too much to allow us to continue in these delusions. He wants us to experience fulfillment and abundance, joy and peace.

Today, humble yourself before God. Don't allow your life to be dominated by pride. Don't seek to chart your own path, but trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding, but acknowledge Him in all your ways. Let Him direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Worship Him! And make Him the Lord of everything in your life.

Prayer: Father, I humble myself before You. Forgive me for pride. I declare that You are the Lord of my life. Help me to please and serve You. In Jesus' name Amen
